Inspired by the Lotus mid-engined race cars (F1 Champion in 1963 and 1965 and Indy winner), the revolutionary Europa allowed to drive a "road-approved prototype", one of the very first mid-engined GT cars.
The design of the Europe Type 46 Series 1 was far ahead of its time: fiberglass monocoque with integrated steel chassis, ultra-low profile, 600 kg racing construction...
The radical styling of the Europa, by John Frayling (who designed the Lola GT MKIV) and Colin Chapman, is timelessly beautiful, clean and elegant. To save weight and money, the 1 Series Europa has non-opening side windows. This exclusive feature is available on S1A/B and S2.
Of course, the S1s should not be confused with the more common S2 cars, which are less elegant, heavy and abundantly available on the market. Of the first 500 Europe S-1s, only a few still exist in their original condition; almost all survivors have been modified with incorrect engine or gearbox, "tuning", modified body and interior, etc.
